Nathan Hargreaves
Fund Manager

Nathan has over 23 years of direct commercial property experience and has worked with Founding Partner Sandy Wilson for over 16 years. He joined Columbia Threadneedle in 2005 and was fund manager of the c.£2bn Threadneedle Pension Property Fund from 2009 to 2020. During his tenure, Nathan took a lead role in the acquisition and disposal of c.£2.7bn of leveraged and unleveraged UK CRE transactions. Nathan is a member of the Northtree Board of Directors.

Sandy Wilson
Fund Manager

Sandy has over 24 years of direct commercial property experience and has worked with Founding Partner Nathan Hargreaves for over 16 years. He joined Columbia Threadneedle in 2002 and between 2007 and 2020 managed funds including the c.£700m UK Zurich Life Fund,  c.£1.7bn UK Zurich Pension Fund and the c.£300m Carbon Neutral Real Estate Fund. During his tenure, Sandy took a lead role in the acquisition and disposal of c.£3bn of leveraged and unleveraged UK CRE transactions. Sandy is a member of the Northtree Board of Directors.

Chris Ward
Head of Asset Management

Chris has over 17 years’ experience in direct commercial property and is a Director of Northtree. Previously Director and Co. Head of Asset Management at Columbia Threadneedle, Chris successfully managed assets in all sectors throughout the UK across a range of open ended and closed ended business strategies.  At Columbia Threadneedle, he was jointly responsible for managing the team of asset managers and property oversight managers, with an AUM of circa £8bn and approximately £450m of annual rental income. Chris is a member of the Northtree Board of Directors.

Anne Johnstone
Head of ESG

Anne was previous Partner and Head of Environment, Energy and Sustainability at Hollis, with over 20 years’ experience in the environmental and sustainability sectors.  Anne has developed net zero carbon strategies and supporting policies for a variety of CRE clients and has completed environmental and sustainability due diligence on thousands of assets across all real estate sectors, from prime central London assets through to regional out of town offices, industrial estates and retail warehouses.  Anne is Founder and Director of Fair Futures Partnership and took a lead role in the delivery of ‘After the Pandemic @ COP’ as part of COP26 held in Glasgow in 2021.  She also sits on the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre’s governance board and is an Investment Property Forum Scottish Committee member. Anne is a member of the Northtree Board of Directors.

Emma Calver
Head of Office and Communications

Emma has 20+ years experience in administration and office management. Prior to joining Northtree, Emma was a senior executive assistant at Columbia Threadneedle where she worked for 17 years. Emma is a member of the Northtree Board of Directors.

Lorraine Ufland
Investment Committee Chair

Lorraine has extensive experience in the commercial real estate legal profession having advised on domestic and international acquisitions, disposals, developments, lettings and refinancing across multiple sectors including industrial, office, retail, leisure and retirement.  Formerly Partner at Watson, Farley & Williams, Taylor Wessing and Head of London for White & Case LLP, Lorraine headed up large multidisciplinary teams and advised real estate investment funds, private / public property companies and developers.  Lorraine is currently CEO of Esperium Capital.

Nigel Baly
Investment Committee Member

Nigel is a highly experienced commercial property advisor with >43 years of direct commercial property experience. As Executive Director and Head of  the UK Portfolio Valuations business at CBRE for >15 years, Nigel ran the largest commercial portfolio valuation team in the UK, valuing over £100Bn of UK commercial property.  Key UK flagship instructions included; Workspace Group Plc, HSBC Bank Pension Fund, Marks & Spencer UK portfolio and UK operational property portfolios for Lloyds Bank and Marks & Spencer.

John Bywater
Investment Committee Member

Formerly the managing director of Hammerson Plc (FTSE 100) between 1997 – 2007, John is a highly experienced commercial property investor and developer with >50 years multi-sector direct commercial real estate experience.  Following John’s departure from Hammerson, John became Managing Director of Caddick Developments between 2007 during which time he expanded the business from a local developer / contractor to a highly regarded national developer / investor.  Other non-executive positions John has held includes, Workspace Group and the Carbon Neutral Real Estate Fund (formerly the Low Carbon Workplace Fund).
